Since day one of our first NAA Conference & Show, we've paid particular attention to the conversations in the auction community swirling around data ownership. We've always understood the importance of this topic (since one of our founders is an active auctioneer), so we're not surprised by the passionate discourse.
From our inception, BidWrangler has maintained that auction companies should possess control of their data. You acquired it. You own it. Our job as pertains to said data? To protect it. We feel as strongly about this as our valued clients do. That's why we've always had this specific language in our Terms of Use Agreement:
"Security and ownership of all data belongs to THE CLIENT. The BIDWRANGLER platform uses state of the art security to protect the data. Further, while the BIDWRANGLER platform is a cloud-based solution, it doesn’t change ownership of the data. THE CLIENT retains all rights over all auction, bidder, and bidding data and BIDWRANGLER will never use THE CLIENT’s data for any other reason except to provide the service as agreed."
